Ding is offering schools in Jamaica the chance to win 1 of 10 hydrofarming systems and a sustainability workshop.

Entering the Competition

We’ll be choosing a winner based on a variety of reasons. Priority will be given to schools with existing agricultural programs and school-funded canteens. Here’s what you need to do to enter and be in with the best chance of winning your school a hydrofarm.

Step 1: Fill in the Online Application

Schools must fill out the online application form. Here, you’ll be asked to submit an officially notarized essay (school stamp and signed by the principal/HOD). The essay should be no more than 2500 words long and answer the following questions:

  • Why does your school want a hydrofarm?

  • How would the hydrofarm support educational goals in your school?

    • Describe how the hydrofarm can be integrated into your school’s curriculum or extracurricular activities to teach students about sustainability, agriculture, or healthy eating habits.

  • How will the hydrofarm benefit the students' daily lives?

    • Tell us how the hydrofarm will improve students' understanding of agriculture, environmental issues, and healthy lifestyles. Will it impact their nutrition, education, or general well-being?

The essay should be in PDF format and officially notarized (school stamp and signed by the principal/HOD). Those without will not be considered.

Step 2: Social Media Video

Create and upload a video no more than 90 sec showcasing why your school should receive a hydrofarm. You have creative freedom to express points highlighted in your essay; be sure to highlight the enthusiasm of students, teachers, and the wider school community.

Stay tuned to our Instagram page where the video will be uploaded. The two most liked videos at the end of the campaign will be guaranteed a hydrofram system.

Follow Ding on Social Media

Encourage people from your community to follow Ding on Instagram and to like posts about your school. The top two schools with the highest engagement get shortlisted for a hydrofarm.

One winner will be determined by audience votes based on the school’s most creative social media content.

Competition Prizes

10 schools will be picked as winners of the competition, ranging from best creative entries to most popular entries on social media. The winners will get 1 of 10 incredible hydrofarms, fully installed by Chambers Hydrofarms.

The winners will also get a sustainability workshop where students learn how to manage the hydrofarm along with a longstanding partnership with the Jamaica Horticultural Society.
